Sun Ra Arkestra at Band on the Wall

Sun Ra was one of the greatest and least known jazz artists of the last four decades. He founded his Arkestra to take jazz into unexplored territories – his style drawing simultaneously on black vaudeville, modern dance, Egyptian cosmology, Eastern philosophy, surrealism, kitsch, and the Bible. The Arkestra is led today by 91-year young alto saxophonist and long-time Ra collaborator Marshall Allen. Join them – at Band on the Wall in Manchester city centre – for this special celebration of the Sun Ra Arkestra’s 60th anniversary.

Tickets for the show on Friday the 15th of April are available at Band on the Wall.
