Sun Ra Arkestra at Band on the Wall

Sun Ra was one of the greatest jazz artists of the last four decades. A composer, bandleader, pianist, poet and philosopher, he founded his Arkestra to take jazz into unexplored territories, with his style drawing on a combination of Egyptian cosmology, Eastern philosophy and the Bible. The Arkestra is led today by 92-year old saxophonist and long-time Ra collaborator, Marshall Allen.
