Author and DJ Dave Haslam has a love of Manchester and all it has achieved culturally. He works with and has always celebrated the likes of Manchester International Festival, and the Whitworth Art Gallery. But in a provocative essay last year he argued that we are currently unbalanced – and in danger of focussing money and marketing on high profile cultural institutions at the expense of nurturing local, maverick, creative talent.
At this event, presented by Discuss, and in association with the Greater Manchester Fringe, Dave will revisit the themes of the essay and face challenges and arguments from a range of other speakers with a view on, and role in, Greater Manchester arts & culture.
Please arrive early as the event onstage will start at 6.45pm exactly on Thursday the 14th of July. Tickets are available at Discuss.
