The monumental stone statues of Rapa Nui (named Easter Island by European explorers) are some of the most widely recognised archaeological objects in the world. Based on fieldwork on the island by University of Manchester archaeologist, Professor Colin Richards, this exhibition will take a fresh look at these impressive statues, or ‘moai’.
The exhibition runs from the 1st of April to the 6th of September 2015 at Manchester Museum and entry is free.
