Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, Inherent Vice is the first ever film adaption of a Thomas Pynchon novel. Set in 1970, the movie stars Joaquin Phoenix as drug-fueled Los Angeles detective Larry “Doc” Sportello, who is investigating the disappearance of a former girlfriend.
The film is certified 72% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an average critics rating of 7.1/10, although the top critics consider it 87% fresh with an average rating of 8.1/10. On IMDb it has a user rating of 7.1/10 and a Metascore of 81/100.
