Slaughter & The Dogs at Sound Control

Legendary Manchester punk band, Slaughter & The Dogs will be playing a one-off show tonight at Sound Control. The band was formed in April 1976 at Wythenshawe Sharston High School and following a series of local gigs, managed to convince Malcolm McLaren they had a ‘huge following’ and so blagged the support slot to the Sex Pistols legendary show at Manchester’s Lesser Free Trade Hall on July 20th 1976, a gig that also saw the first performance by the Buzzcocks. The band has been cited as a major influence by the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Green Day, amongst many others, and were at the sharp end of the original UK Punk scene.

Tonight’s show will start with journalist John Robb talking to the band about their early influences in the music industry and life growing up in Wythenshawe, plus there’ll be a chance for some questions from the audience, before a full acoustic set of songs that shaped the band and of course stripped down versions of Slaughter classics.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Sound Control.
